A view above the clouds at the Mauna Kea Observatory, looking at the Gemini Telescope on the left. Although you can see the Gemini constellation of 85 stars without the use of a telescope, this telescope was meant to see far beyond that. Getting here was fairly easy as long as you have a 4x4. You do need to acclimate to the elevation and they do have you staying at the visitor information station for a while before driving up further. They also dont recommend that you stay at the summit for long periods. I did eventually get altitude sickness at the top with a severe headache, we were there for nearly 4 hours! Hiking to the actual summit and back was fairly difficult, having run out of breath every 10 steps. It was still a fun experience. Great place for sunset as well.
