Artist's Description
Portland's famous maple tree. Taken during an early afternoon light during late spring @15mm, I was able to squeeze in the sun star. The tree (Acer palmatum) is one species among many at the Portland Japanese Garden in Oregon, a 9+ acre landscaped property meant to evoke the gardens of an estate in pre-modern Japan. This tree is only apparently about 40 years old. Along the pathway, this tree is actually very unassuming; with dozens of park goers passing this and not realizing that it is one of the most famous maple tress around. This was taken handheld laying on the ground.
