On this day, we had some great plans to take the White Pass Scenic loop in hopes to take on both Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier all in one road trip as well as take advantage of the free pass day at both parks. First I wanted to catch a good sunrise, no go. Sopped in with clouds, no sun in sight, just full of gray blah. Checked the weather reports and it would clear up later in the afternoon. Still hopeful, we then drove south to hit up St. Helens and come to find out Windy Ridge is closed! Arg. Continued on through the White Pass byway and went into Mt. Rainier National Park from there. I luckily stopped in at the Ohanapecosh visitor center and the ranger advised that the Stevens Canyon route is also closed! Arg. Back tracked and took the route from Packwood on to Paradise. Still no mountain in sight, sopped in with clouds during the whole trip, right until I almost got home (I'll post that pic later).
This is of Christine Falls along the way up to Paradise, some fall colors...
